As a blogger or business owner statistics of your social media are quite important because they help you to get to know your audience and they show you what your audience likes. Some social media platforms give you this insight, like Facebook, but some don’t, like Instagram. I recently stumbled upon Iconosquare, an app that connects to your Instagram account(s) and provides you will all kinds of useful metrics to monitor the growth and engagement of your followers. Iconosquare fills in a lot of the gaps that Instagram has for those who want to actively pursue a larger following. This app sounds perfect!
Check your stats
Iconosquare has a lot of great features: measure your performance and optimize your strategy, track hashtags or benchmark against your competitors. You can schedule a post or if you want to quickly check your stats then the overview panel gives you a few simplified metrics for the last 7 days. It can give you also more specific information about which pictures were your most popular for a specific period. You can find an overview of your most-engaged followers for the last month and easily follow them back if you want to.
Another great feature is the comment tracker tool, which displays a list of your most recent comments. It allows you to interact with your followers.
In Iconosquare, you can also find information about your own Instagram habits. What time of day you typically post or which filter you use the most. You can find all the answers here. It even tells you what is the best time to post your pictures on Instagram!
Follow or unfollow
Personally, I think the most useful feature is that Iconosquare tells you who unfollowed you in the last 7 days. You propably know these people on Instagram who follow you in the hope that you follow them back and then after a while they unfollow you. So annoying, isn’t it? If you ask me, this is not a very helpful way to get new followers. Grow your community by trying to optimize your content and use this feature of Iconosquare as an indicator for the types of pictures that your followers don’t really like to see.
Iconosquare can provide you with a lot of information, but unfortunately this app isn’t free. There is a free trial, but after that you have to upgrade. I think it’s only worth it to pay for it if you are using it for your business and want to take your social media to the next level.
I’m sure you can use Iconosquare to increase your Instagram followers by monitoring your statistics.
You can download the app for iOS here. I did search for the Android version, unfortunately I couldn’t find it. But luckily… you can use it in your browser on your computer!
